Presentation
The CSEEE consists of 250 electrical equipment companies employing 20,000 staff with a turnover of 2.1 thousand million euros for the Ile de France region alone. It provides its members with a number of services on a day-to-day basis (corporate information, financial advice, tax advice, technical information, pre-litigation advice, etc.), produces professional data support for its members (circulars, reviews, publications) and is involved in promoting the profession. The CSEEE also runs its own training organisation AFORELEC and the C.F.A. de l'Equipement Electrique (centre for apprenticeship training)(6-8, impasse Delépine - Paris 11ème) which takes on 500 young people.
The Professional Association of Electrical Equipment Companies for Paris and District (CSEEE) is a professional organisation that aims to represent businesses from the sector, defend the interests of the profession and promote expertise. It was created in 1881.
In 2007, in the Paris Ile de France district, the CSEEE has 250 members with around 20,000 employees in Ile-de-France. These companies have a turnover of some 2.1 thousand million euros in Ile-de-France region.
The numbers employed by the member companies are distributed as follows:
•34% in companies with less than 11 employees
•28% in companies with between 11 and 25 employees
•26% in companies with between 26 and 100 employees
•12 % in companies with over 100 employees.
Members of the CSEEE hold Qualifelec qualifications (French qualification body for electrical equipment companies).
The CSEEE is affiliated to the Fédération Française des Installateurs Electriciens (FFIE - French Federation of Electricians) and the FFB, Fédération Française du Bâtiment (French Building Federation).
AREA OF ACTIVITY
Members are companies working in the electricity and energy distribution and equipment sector, in the following areas:
•Industrial building.
•Non-industrial building (offices, government, housing).
•Installation and assembly of transformer stations, distribution cabinets and generator sets.
•Public lighting, electric lighting and signalling systems.
They provide a wide range of services for their customers: design studies (analysis of customer requirements, dimensioning of equipment), execution (cabling, installation of equipment on site) and maintenance (monitoring, verification, troubleshooting, follow-up).
Most of the work done by member companies is performed in the tertiary sector (56%). They are also active in industry (8%), housing (26%), infrastructure networks, public lighting and roads and services (10%).
Approx. 69% of the work is done in the traditional "high voltage - power systems" sector compared with 31% in "low voltage -communication systems", where the share has increased by 10% in a decade.
MULTI-SERVICE ASSISTANCE
Apart from representing the interests of the profession, the Association provides its members with assistance and advice connected with key aspects of their work (social, financial, legal, technical, commercial and information technology) that helps them to run their businesses efficiently. Club meetings are held at regular intervals throughout the year to keep members informed on general or highly specialised topics.
The Association also produces various data media for its members and the profession as a whole, including flash infos (22 editions a year), 'Contact' magazine and a yearbook. All of this information can be viewed on line on the website 'cseee.fr', which is a reference tool for the profession and a mine of information for anyone with an interest in the sector, specialising in the electrical equipment business and market.
It helps to promote its members via its yearbook, 4000 copies of which are sent out, and via its website.
By providing a forum where professionals can meet and exchange views, the Association organises frequent debates and meetings. The main events are the annual conference (which is attended by over 250 people every year), 'Technical Meetings', and the 'Conference debate' organised to coincide with the Annual General Meeting. Half-yearly information meetings are an opportunity for presenting the results of internal surveys that provide members with invaluable details about the market and wages.
In addition, an important awards night, 'The Golden Fuse Awards' (which is attended by between 200 and 400 people), and the Christmas Get-together for Electricians (2100 guests) are occasions for promoting a spirit of camaraderie between those involved in the industry.
The CSEEE has placed the emphasis on quality in order to meet the current and future needs of its members. The Intellectual Services Committee of the AFAQ (Association Française pour l'Assurance Qualité - French Quality Assurance Association) awarded it ISO 9001 certification for the assistance, advice, information and services it provides to member companies from the electricity sector.
With regard to professional training, both initial and ongoing, which is another aspect of its work, the Professional Association of Electrical Equipment Companies in Paris and District (CSEEE) has at its disposal a comprehensive training network in the form of two associations, the CAE (Chambre d'Apprentissage de l'Electricité - Apprentice training association) and AFORELEC (Association pour la formation professionnelle dans l'équipement électrique - Electrical equipment professional training association) :
- The CAE is the administrative arm of Delépine (Centre de Formation d'Apprentis de l'Equipement Electrique - Training centre for electrical equipment apprentices), located at Impasse Delépine, Paris XIème. This renowned centre, set up in 1971 by the CSEEE, takes on 500 young people for apprentice training, vocational diploma and studies, and professional baccalaureate courses in electrical engineering and the installation of electrical equipment. It is one of the few establishments of its kind to have gained ISO 9001 certification for the recruitment and placement of apprentices and for providing sandwich courses. It is the leading organisation in the area, based on its exam results and placement success.
- In 1978 the CSEEE also set up the AFORELEC 'association for in-service training', which is used by electrical equipment companies and their professional associates, giving their employees the option of taking courses at all levels and in various specialist subjects. AFORELEC also has ISO 9001 accreditation and is recognised for the reliability of the services it provides and its ability to constantly adapt its training methods to suit the requirements of its customers and to keep pace with technical and regulatory developments.
ADMINISTRATION
The CSEEE is run by a Council of twenty-five elected members, all heads of member companies. Four working commissions (technical, financial, welfare/training and HQE/HPE (high environmental quality / high energy performance standards)), chaired by members of the Bureau, are responsible for preparing documents in pre-production worked on by the Council.
The CSEEE maintains close partnership links with many employers and organisations in the Building, Electrical Construction, distribution and energy sectors. Several of its representatives sit on government bodies, Qualifelec, equal representation bodies, professional funds or local authorities.
For all of this work, the CSEEE, CAE and AFORELEC employ 48 people, and handle an annual budget of 4.9 Million euros.
